MANUAL ARS-1, TO HAVE FASTER SEARCH & RESCUE, TAKES SHAPE

2ND BOARD OF EXPERT MEETING

Pisa (IT) 21st January 2020

On 21st January, the 2nd Board of Experts of the European project called BELICE (Building Experience to Lead Initial Assessment in Challeging Emergency – www.beliceproject.eu) was held in Pisa, Italy.

The project BELICE is intended to define the procedures for the sectorization of disaster-stricken areas.

The Board of Experts meeting in Pisa worked on the Manual foreseen by the BELICE project and on its practical usability through trainings related to it that will be addressed to 75 between rescuers, civil protection authorities and local authorities from many countries.

In addition to the National Fire Corps, the Board of Experts meeting in Pisa involved also: EcASC (École d’Application de Sécurité Civile – FRA), THW (German Federal Agency for Technical Relief – DE), DPC (Italian Civil Protection Department – ITA).

The meeting was also attended by an external expert of the Civil Protection Office of the Municipality of Pisa who, on the basis of his expertise and experience developed, has already given a fundamental contribution in the past months regarding the contribution that local authorities can give to rescuers both in the ordinary planning phase of their civil protection plans and through the knowledge of their territory in the hours immediately following.
